Call for artists

The Art of Law Enforcement
September 6th-30th, 2024 at the NCI ARTworks Gallery

Dear Law Enforcement Officers & Personnel,

North Central Illinois ARTworks would like to invite law enforcement officers and personnel from LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam counties to participate in a tri-county exhibition showcasing “The Art of Law Enforcement.”

Every September, NCI ARTworks hosts a special art exhibition that focuses on an important historical person or organization/agency in the tri-county area. In 2022, it was a retrospective of the art of Father Joseph Heyd, O.S.B—hundreds of people familiar with his work came from around the country to attend the exhibit. In 2023, we partnered with The Perfectly Flawed Foundation to showcase art created by individuals and families affected by the tragic world of substance use—again, a very successful, moving, and memorable exhibition. This year, we have decided to showcase art by members of the law enforcement community as a way to strengthen bonds between the agencies and the communities they serve and to showcase the artists themselves.

This letter and the attached flier serve as a Call for Artists who are interested in showing their work at this exhibition.

Any law enforcement personnel, retired or current, including civilian employees, are invited to submit their art for consideration. Artists may submit the following types of art for inclusion in the exhibition: Acrylic or Oil paintings, wood working, wall and freestanding sculptures, pottery, metalwork, and photography. The deadline for image submissions is Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Images should be submitted via email to: [email protected]

We look forward to honoring our law enforcement officers and personnel at the NCI ARTworks Gallery in the west wing of the historic Westclox Building at “The ART of Law Enforcement” exhibition, which will run from Friday, September 6th, through September 30th 2024. Please make sure to save the date for the artists’ opening reception in honor of the exhibitors on Friday, September 6th, from 6 to 8pm.

Please forward this information to members of our law enforcement community. Individuals interested in exhibiting should contact us at  [email protected]. We hope to hear from you soon.
