Congratulations to our 2022 Queen of the Arts...Jessica Kreiser!
Jessica raised over $2000 for artworks during this good-natured competition to support the arts in the Illinois Valley.
A big shout out to the other Queen-of-the-arts candidates: Jennifer Nagle, Keisha Acuff, and Alyce Scott, who all did a great job advocating for their candidacies and raising funds for the organization. We are grateful to all of them.

Jessica Kreiser
Hello! My name is Jessica Kreiser and I am honored to be a candidate for the North Central Illinois ARTworks Queen of Arts! The opportunity to raise scholarship money for children to participate in activities that may change their lives is incredibly worthwhile and I am humbled to be asked to participate in this important event!
To me, being a candidate means sharing my passion for a hobby that changed my life as a young high school girl in Mendota. Being involved with the theater means bringing together people who enjoy painting, drawing, ceramics, dance, vocal music, instrumental music, photography, videography, sewing, and learning trades such as construction, lighting, sound, and building costumes. All of these opportunities are available throughout the Illinois Valley Area at places I have performed in like Mendota Community Theater, Engle Lane in Streator, and Stage 212 in LaSalle.
The Arts are for every type of person! Children and adults who have Special needs, sensory needs, those who struggle with mental health or anxiety all benefit from having exposure to the Arts by trying new things to find their niche; everyone needs to be accepted and valued, to find their sense of expression, to find a voice. Theater is not just about acting/singing/dancing, it is about working as a Team to create a quality piece of art.
Sharing my life with children in special education for 35 years has allowed me to see the cross over with the Arts by helping them find: A belief in themselves, Develop a positive self esteem, and Learn to share & care about others. Children are our future. We need to guide their interests and support their goals as they learn the value of determination and develop a personal level of integrity and grit :) Children have dreams that we can help become reality. Not all children have the means to participate in an activity that may very well change their life forever.
When asked to be a queen, I responded with a whimsical…Oh, I am not a queen! Here’s who I am…I enter each day with the idea of making a difference in someone’s life. Maybe making their life easier, better, or more enjoyable. I love many parts of life: my family - Ron and I share 4 adult children and 6 Grandchildren, I love being the Executive Director of Lighted Way Children’s Developmental Center in LaSalle, and sharing my days with the most special kids and hardworking & dedicated staff on the planet! I also enjoy sharing my love of the arts at Stage 212 in LaSalle and helping others find their inner self while building confidence and self esteem surrounded by acceptance and teamwork.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to get to know me a little better. If you would like more information about Lighted Way, Stage 212, or me, please feel free to send me an email! Please help make the dreams of a child come true by contributing to this very special cause, donate to NCI ARTworks today and make a difference in the life of a child!
